Kody!!!

Shortly after we returned home from Canadian Thanksgiving, Kody became the newest member of our family.

Our first trip to see Kody in September. He was too little, so we couldn't take him home yet.

Home at last!

After running around the yard in the rain, he decided to rest on the skateboard ramp.

Aidan and his buddy!

He's getting so big!

A Day at the Beach

Our friends Shannon and Nancy were so wonderful to invite us to visit them during their vacation at the beach at Ocean City, Maryland. The forecast for the day was terrible, but went anyway, and were glad we did. The rain held off and the day was hot, but overcast. The storm surge rolled in ahead of the weather and caused some amazing waves.

Connor and Aidan had only been to a beach in the off-season, so they had never been tossed about in the waves. They were a little scared at first, but quickly gained their courage. By the end of the day, Connor was riding waves having a great time in the surf. Aidan took a more cautious approach, chasing the waves up and down the beach and digging in the sand.

We finished off the day with pizza and margaritas, a walk down the boardwalk and a trip to the arcade.

Mer and Mark Visit DC

Marty's sister Meredith and her husband Mark came to visit for a weekend. We took a trip to Annapolis for the day, enjoyed a harbor cruise around the Naval Academy, and had all you can eat crab and seafood for lunch on the Annapolis waterfront.

After their stay at Club Fisher, Mer and Mark ventured north to Mark's family's winery in Maryland, then on to a Red Sox Game in Baltimore.

Rideau Ferry in July!

Toward the end of July we traveled north to Rideau Ferry, Ontario for a two week visit with Laurie's Dad. The weather was fantastic and the kids had an amazing time.

The first week, Marty strained his back and had to lay low for a few days. The second week, Laurie got strep throat. What's a vacation without a few medical issues!

We visited a wild animal park and got drive right up to heard after heard of deer, buffalo and other animals. We even got to hike into the woods a see some moose. We all got to feed them carrot through the window of the car.

Laurie's highschool friend Jen and her husband Bert invited us to visit their new home near Ottawa. Laurie and Jen tried to keep a straight face for a picture...

Connor got right up on water skis and proceed to ski almost every day.

Aidan tried a few times, but was more content to bounce along in the tube.

One afternoon, Connor asked if he could jump his bike into the lake. You should have seen his face when we said sure! This is what we get for sending him to BMX camp earlier this summer! The first jump was a little scary, but he repeated it seven or eight more times, each jump with a new twist. He was on top of the world when the teenagers next door yelled over that his jumps were "really cool!"

Not to be out done, Aidan suited up and rode right off the dock without any hesitation. Once was enough for him and we were all very proud of him.

We spend several moonlit nights by the water enjoying a fire.

Our Trip to Idaho

Laurie's cousin Jill got married in Sun Valley, Idaho on June 23, 2007. Since were would be traveling half way across the country, we planned a few extra days of touring before and after the wedding. On June 19, 2007 we set off on a nine day trip that would take us through Utah, Montana, Wyoming and Idaho.

Connor's 8th Birthday

Once they finally left the pool, we celebrated Connor's Eighth birthday at our house. Since Connor wanted a pool party for his birthday party, and our pool was still quite cold, he opted to hold his party later in the summer. More on this event to follow.

Off the High Dive

They boys spent most of Connor's Birthday with their friends Justin and Matthew at their neighborhood pool. It did not take very much to convince them that they could jump off the high dive. After a few timid jumps, they were soon going spins and walking in the air. We had very hard time getting them to got home.

Aidan Graduates from Preschool

Our little Aidan is growing up so fast! His class rehearsed a very cute song about their favorite Super Kids characters. They also made posters of what they wanted to be when they grew up.

Each kid stepped our in front of all the parents and described their poster. After several other kids presented police man, fire man and football player, Aidan got up and said he wanted to be...

There were very few dry eyes in the room, especially his Daddy's.

Then Ms. Tammy presented him with his diploma and declared him an official Kindergartener!

Aidan at the Tai Kwon Do Tournament

Aidan competed in a Tai Kwon Do tournament this weekend with over twenty students from his class. They performed punches, kicks and blocks as a group and were rated by the judges. His class won third place out of four groups.

They competed in a "bopper" competition where they battled one on one and got points for hits and blocks. Out of 16 kids at his level, he ended up with second place and won a silver medal!

Nationals vs. Braves

Wearing their Nationals hats and little league team shirts, we set out for a Nationals game at RFK Stadium. Both boys brought their gloves, just in case a ball came our way. Though the Nats lost, our most exciting moment came when a foul ball was caught by a fan just four rows in front of us!

Here are the boys at a Nationals game in September 2006.

Here they are again at a Nationals game in August 2005.

Mother's Day Dinner

We celebrated Mother's Day with Laurie's favorite dinner... Lobster! After letting them crawl around on the floor for a while, we dropped them into to pot of boiling beer to simmer until they turned bright red.

The boys each polished off a 1 1/2 pounder with no trouble at all. Aidan saved a claw shell for Show and Tell at school.

At school, Connor and Aidan each made cards and grew flowers for Mom.

Power Rangers Invade

While Grandpa Charlie was celebrating his birthday at his home in Lexington, Power Rangers invaded our house in Falls Church!

Aidan and his friend Hudson battled evil forces all afternoon, pausing only briefly for a snack.

A Day In Baltimore

After a breakfast of chocolate Easter candy and opening Laurie's presents, we headed to Baltimore to tour the Inner Harbor and enjoy a wonderful dinner at the Cheesecake Factory.

Easter Sunday

Jim and Wendy traveled down from Canada to visit for Easter and to celebrate Laurie's Birthday. The boys enjoyed an Easter Egg Hunt and a visit from the real Easter Bunny!

Grandpa Jim helps open Easter candy for Aidan as Connor eats a chocolate bunny. Yes, it was only 7:30 AM, but who says chocolate's not for breakfast???
